Should you have a Friday/Sunday Wedding?

January 19th, 2016

You’ve found it: the venue of your dreams. If you’re planning a Bethlehem wedding, we hope it’s our Lehigh Valley wedding venue: the event center at blue! Wherever you’re planning, choosing the location for your “I do’s” is an exciting step in the wedding planning process. It’s time to book – but what if your dream venue doesn’t have your dream date available?

This is just one of the many reasons that brides and grooms are choosing to host their weddings on a Friday or Sunday, instead of the ever-popular Saturday. Could an alternate day wedding work for you? Consider it if you fall into any of the following categories.

If your ideal Saturday is booked, and not just by your venue. If you have your heart set on a specific photographer, band, or even hairstylist, these vendors can also get booked up for Saturdays quickly. Offering them a full weekend of dates to choose from helps guarantee that you book who and where you want for your wedding, without having to compromise due to availability.

If you are planning on a budget. Many wedding venues, ours included, offer price incentives to book your wedding on a Friday or Sunday. Because you are avoiding peak wedding times, we are able to help save you money on these lower-demand days. Ask your venue and vendors about what they can do for you if you book on a day other than Saturday.

If you are planning quickly. A quick engagement can often result in sacrifices when it comes to that “dream wedding.” If your perfect band is booked every Saturday in your wedding window, you don’t need to give up on them. Ask about another weekend day in that window – many vendors will be happy to accommodate!

If you want to stand out. A Friday wedding can allow for a whole weekend of post-I do celebration, and a Sunday ceremony during wedding season is less likely to conflict with other weddings or events on your guests’ calendar. You’ll be offering your guests something different, memorable, and unique to you.

It’s no secret that Saturdays are the preferred day for a wedding. Our Saturdays book up fast, especially during the summer wedding season. But if you are looking at Lehigh Valley wedding venues, ask our event planners what we can do for you on a Friday or Saturday. Not only can you stretch your wedding budget further on these days, but you can create a unique reception that your guests will never forget!
