Weddings at blue: Jillian & Patrick
We love every minute of planning a wedding with our Lehigh Valley couples – right up to watching the big day unfold. But it is always extra special for us to circle back with our newlyweds to hear their favorite parts of their wedding day after the celebration. In a special segment new to our weddings blog, we will be featuring some of our Pennsylvania brides and grooms and their wonderful weddings here at blue!
To kick things off, we sat down with Jillian and Patrick, who are about to celebrate their two year anniversary. Their June wedding reception was a party from start to finish – with special touches like a cake pop tower wedding cake and a wedding band that truly rocked the ballroom! We asked the happy couple to share some of the things they loved most about their special day:
- What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?
We really enjoyed adding in lots of custom touches that would make our day feel very true to us as a couple. We designed all of our invitations and signage ourselves, which was a big undertaking but was super rewarding in the end!
- Why did you choose blue as your wedding venue?
We knew we were going to have a fairly large wedding, with a lot of out of town guests. But we didn’t want to just settle for the first place we could find that was big enough for our wedding. Blue stood out to us because of how truly straightforward and simple their packages were! We had so many wonderful options, without any confusing fees or upcharges. And Caroline and her team were so great to work with. We always felt like royalty at all of our planning meetings – they really bent over backwards to bring our vision to life!
- What did your guests say they enjoyed most about your wedding?
The food, 100%! We were excited to be hosting our guests at an event center at a steak house, knowing that we’d be serving great quality steaks, but we also had a number of guests with dietary restrictions. Our vegan and gluten-free guests raved about their meals just as much as my big Italian (carnivorous) family!
- What is your favorite memory looking back on your wedding day?
Every time we look back at photos or videos, we think of another little moment that makes us smile. So hard to pick just one! But we really loved having a first look. It created such a special and intimate moment just for us before the craziness of the day began. We felt like we were going into this wonderful day together, just like we were entering into a new married life together. We’ll always love that little memory!
